Cindy Washburn and her husband Steve lived in Carlisle and had never been to New Cumberland until they were searching for a location for their new business. They opened Oxford Hall on Bridge Street in 1991, and then moved their personal residence here in 2010.

Moving the shop from 315 Bridge Street to 233 Bridge Street is Cindy’s favorite New Cumberland memory. “Friends of our sons—big guys who were members of the CV football and soccer teams—were moving all the stuff down the street on dollies!” she says. “At one point it was almost a parade!”

Oxford Hall imports many items from Ireland and the UK, including apparel, jewelry, and gifts. Oxford Hall’s café features a traditional UK/Irish menu, and its grocery sells traditional UK meat pies, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, and more.

For the Washburns, there is much to love about New Cumberland. “We really like Community Day and our famers’ market is really fun and a great place to get produce all summer,” she says.
